Wobbles are genetic and usually seen in spiders / morphs with spider genetics. I don't think anyone really knows why, but something about the mutation can cause a loss of motor function in the head and neck. Not all of them wobble though! I have one with a wobble and one with no wobble at all. I've heard that sometimes hatchlings are fine, but then can develop a wobble as they get older. I've also heard about snakes losing their wobbles as they age.
They can eat, poop, and shed normally. I've never heard of a snake dying from a wobble, but I imagine that severe cases that prohibit them from performing basic functions as hatchlings are probably culled. My spider that wobbles has no issues whatsoever when there's food. Strikes and never misses.
