Well i guess this could be my introduction post as well as my few questions i have.... Yes i am new to the forum and i know how that goes being the new guy on a forum, but i have been searching through here for a while now. Although im new to the forum, not very new to pythons. Anyways, i just picked up my first burm from a local reptile store. Shes a green burmese female about a year old, about 2 1/2'. I had to shuffle my other Ball pythons around and out of the big cage they were in so i could put the burm in the large cage i have (YES, i completely cleaned out the entire cage and put in new bedding and fresh hides). I guess my question is, i need to know more or less how to get her to calm down. ive had her almost a week now, and i cant even get her out of the cage. She sits in a position thats not very easy for me grab her out of the cage without striking right at me. She hiss's extremely loud and i can tell shes not very happy.
YES i know she needs time to adjust to her new home and what not and im not trying to rush it.
I attempted to feed her exactly what/ how the store was feeding her. But no go, she struck at the rat a couple times but didnt seem interested in actually eating it. more just pissed.
Now here comes the newbie question, i honestly can not tell if shes about to shed or not. Her eyes seem pretty glazed over so im pretty sure thats a yes, but i just wasnt 100% as i havent seen many green burms. Im aware that if she IS about to shed, this could be why shes so upset.
Ive been in the cage misting it/ refilling water/ and trying to have as much interaction with her as i can everyday. Just want to know any of your opinions on this.
Other than that i kinda just wanted to show her off on here and make somewhat of an introduction as i plan on learning a lot from this site!
here is a picture from earlier today i took. after looking at her a little closer im positive shes shedding. i can defiantly tell from her eyes. , sorry for the bad cell phone pics. My nice camera is dead right now.....
