    Try not to confuse hot spot with basking spot.

    You may just be using is as a figure of speech but there is a big difference.

    If you have a "basking" spot set up it will go unused. From all I can tell a BP would happily freeze to death in a dark hole rather than sitting under a bulb on the other side of the tank. haha

    If you are using a bulb to provide heat, be sure it is on the hide. Also be sure that if this is the case you take into account the temperature of the top surface of the hide not only the inside temperature that you would if you were using a UTH. If you are going for a 90 interior temp you could end up with a hide surface that is far higher depending on what you are using.
