    Terraheat Thermostat, help!

I'm not sure if this thread belongs here, so correct me if I'm wrong.

Today I tried testing my Terraheat thermostat to see if it works.
However both my partner and I can't figure out how to active and change the temperature on this thing. We followed the instructions but just can't properly active it.
The only way I know how to active it is to get the temperature down to 0 Celcius. The thermostat then activates and the UTH also starts warming up, eventually it goes over the desired heat, but for some reason I can't control the temperature.
I pushed the down button to see if the temperature goes down but the screen just goes from 38*C to 0*C and when I release the button it goes back to showing the actual temperature (38*C)
I also pushed the up button to see what it does, it pushes the temperature up from 0*C but eventually the thermostat de-activates for some reason. I also tried going up as high as possible, but nothing happened

I really hope someone on this forum is able to help me because I really can't figure this thing out

According to this manual you press the Function button beside the Down button until the green LED lights up. This indicates that the Control function is active.

That's what we did as well, but the LED light didn't turn green when we did.

This is when you pull out the Sonic Screwdriver...

Were you able to access the Advanced Settings?
    Advanced settings
    1. Remove the Terra Heat Thermostat from the wall socket.
    2. Press all 3 buttons and insert the Terra Heat Thermostat into a wall socket.
    3. LCD displays: F(ahrenheit) or C(elsius).
    4. Let go of the push buttons. 5. Press the / button to apply the correct scale (Celsius).
    6. Press the FUNCTION button to confirm this setting. The calibration will then be displayed. 7. Press the / button to adjust it if necessary. Use this function only if there is a temperature deviation!
    8. Press the FUNCTION button to confirm this setting. The controller will then switch to its operating setting.

Haha, if only I had one.

No, I can't get to those settings.
I did follow the steps, to be sure I tried it again just now, but it never gets past step 3.
Maybe it's defect, because it never lets you choose between Fahrenheit and Celsius - it immediately goes to the temperature after releasing the buttons

I decided to send the thermostat back, I finally found a Dutch site which sells the Zoo Med thermostat so I'm going to get that one as I've heard good things about it (:
