After you let your bp accumilate for a week, what is the maximum amount of time that you can handle them? And by what amount should you increase day by day?

    Handling Q

there really is no set amount of time. you should be able to tell if you should be handling your snake and for how long. they all vary.

Is there a way to tell when they have had enough?

they usually display a pretty obvious "annoyed" behavior. I usually put mine back when they get too active for me to look at the tv.

You'll just have to handle your snake and get to know him. They're too individual for someone to give you specific handling times. What works for one may not work for another. Snakes don't display much in the way of overt emotions, but it doesn't take long to figure out when they're a bit agitated. My gopher snake is either calmly exploring my hands and arms...or wriggling with all he's got to find a way down out of my hands. When he's wriggling like that, I don't keep him out simply for my own amusement and let him go back into his cage.

I usually handle my Bps for no more than half an hour each. I would avoid keeping them out for longer than 45 minutes at a time, because it could start to get stressful. If I notice one of them trying to get into the crevices of the couch or chair I'm in, I put that snake back in his cage. If one of the snakes is slithering around his cage madly, he gets taken out for awhile. I only handle them a few hours a week though, when the boyfriend and I are sitting watching TV (which is a very rare thing, since we both work!)

Well I kinda wanted to handle my snake more than just a few times a week. Is that just because you don't have much time

at first, you dont want to handle them too much, but after they have gotten used to everything and are ok with it all, then you can handle it a lot longer, up to an hour at a time, but i wouldnt suggest handling everyday, let them have a day or two between to rest

and a lot of times, you might be too busy to handle them evey day
