How to get rid of stink

Hey there. I just bought my first bp today and it took a giant crap. I removed the poo and dirty paper towels, but her tub still smells like garbage. How do you get rid of the smell? Do you use soap? Hot water?

It likely peed as well, and BP pee stinks too. Did you change the substrate and clean out its enclosure? I clean my tubs with hot water and diluted F10SC disinfectant.

I'm with Eric on this one, the smell of poo normally goes once it is removed for the enclosure. It's urine however, is quite a pungent smell at times. Clean put the substrate and disinfect

Re: How to get rid of stink

I keep a few spare tubs and if one is exceptionally disgusting I'll swap it with a clean and disinfected one, and then thoroughly clean the soiled one with mild dish soap and water. Allow it to dry, spray with F10SC, and it gets stored with the other clean tubs until I need one.

If you're still smelling poop clean the underside of the shelf above the tub, these guys can get pretty artistic...

Also you may want to wipe the snake down with a damp towel, it could be him that stinks and not the tub.

When my big blood goes she floods the cage so as I clean it I place her in a warm bath and once I'm done wipe her down well.

As for cleaning the tubs I do it similar to bcr229. I spray and let soak, rinse, wash with soap and water, them dry. I have a hose on my shower head that makes washing tubs in the bathtub a snap.

Hey - good idea! Some of mine flood theirs too, and I end up making them run through paper towels in my hands until they've cleaned off before putting them back in a fresh tub. A nice warm bath seems like a good addition to my cleaning regimen. Thanks!

Re: How to get rid of stink

I use white vinegar diluted in hot water to clean the tanks, and it usually gets rid of it. I agree that the urine/urates stink to high heaven. Their poop is gross, but the urine... omg. Good luck!
