What is the most expensive morph and why?

Generally speaking, the newest morphs are all going to be crazy expensive. The highest offer Brian got for the scaleless BP was 150k and scaleless heads are going for around 50k (don't remember if that was for a pair or per animal), but seeing as the gene is a codom I would expect the prices to drop heavily in the next few years. Sunset is a recessive trait, though, and with BHB selling a het pair for 35k (the only ones I currently know of who are selling), I would expect those prices to stay pretty high for a good while. As those come down though, new genes are produced, and the latest and greatest will always find it's way to the top of the price list. It's all supply and demand; less animals with the genes + people wanting the newest genetics and willing to pay the premium for it = really high prices.

Honestly as much as I would love to get my hands on a scaleless, sunset, or dozen other genes, for the going price now I'm more than happy to let the big name breeders have their fun and hammer down the prices. Eventually they'll fall into affordable range and find their way into smaller collections.

Although if that crazy BP Mr. Dave Green has turns out to be genetic You'll see another likely added to the "gotta have it and would pay extra to have it early" list of morphs. That snake is just insane for unique pattern, playing with that and colour morphs will keep breeders busy for a few years. Really looking forward to seeing if that proves out and crossing my fingers that he has great luck with it.

For contrast look at the current versus historic price of things like pinstripes, or more recently coral glow/banana.
While it is rare the price remains high although there does come a time where even in limited availability the number of people both interested in and willing or able to pay top dollar becomes exhausted. So, the price then drops anyway to keep moving animals.
