    What got you into BPs?

    Is it an addiction now?

Re: What got you into BPs?

I have loved snakes since high school, we used to go snake hunting outside Lubbock, TX as often as we could. We would catch bull snakes, king snakes, hognose snakes, garters, and we have caught a few rattlers. To say I was hooked would be a bit of an understatement.

I got a ball python and a some sort of boa when I was a senior and then moved to college and my mom didn't want to take care of them so I had to sell them off.

Then back in 2011 I was browsing the internet and saw a Piebald Ball Python, oh the love came rushing back and I had to have one. I bought my first ball python in September of 2011 and it has been my drug of choice every since then, now I have over 100 and love it.

I've loved snakes and reptiles ever since I was a little girl, and contrictors have always been my favorites with their thick bodies and the shapes of their heads. So you can imagine it wasn't too far of a leap to get into ball pythons All the fatty joys of a constrictor in a conveniently sized package.

I've always loved reptiles, my mom surprised me with my first Corn Snake when I was in elementary school. And now I am back into it with my first Ball Python and Blood Python, and I hope to get a Carpet Python very soon. x3

Re: What got you into BPs?

Almost three years ago I walked into a reptile store with my girlfriend and told the owner that I need a commitment in my life. That's how i got my Normal girl Faye.

Over time, I acquired four more. Personally, I don't think it's an addiction but definitely a passion. I enjoy each one of my snakes because each of them have their own personality and quirks. I think about possibly breeding to make amazing morphs but we'll see if that happens.

Here's where I might upset some folks... I feel like some people go a little bit overboard with the whole Ball Python "bug". I see so many threads on here where people who have barely bought their first BPs instantly looking to breed and start buying snakes like M&Ms. In my eyes it's irresponsible. These same people post threads on here months later how they're getting rid of their BPs for one reason or another.

If you're new, get a couple of BPs and enjoy them. Learn how to properly care for them (which takes time and experience) and then decide if breeding is something you're truly interested in.

    Sorry for the rant..
