New owner with question on feeding timing

Got my first BP on Friday August 29 and was told it had been fed on the previous Tuesday, Aug. 26. It's about 8 months old. Haven't weighed it yet.
Tried to feed it a rat pup on Tuesday Sept 2 but conditions were wrong - I took it from tank and put in a plastic bin, it was not interested and seemed a bit freaked out.
So next time, I waited until evening on Saturday Sept 13 (10 days since it last ate), fed it in the aquarium and it took it down okay (actually, ate the rat ass-first LOL it was quite an epic struggle). It looked around for a while like it could easily handle another but I wasn't prepared so that was all it ate.
So now it's 4 days later and the snake is looking around like maybe it's hungry. It's only eaten the one RP. Do BPs keep a day timer or a strict diet plan? Should I wait until Saturday or try to give it something tonight? I think I'd rather offer it something and have it refuse than leave the snake going hungry.

    Thanks.

Well I would probably just go ahead and feed it. If he's not hungry he won't eat. It sounds like you should be feeding him larger prey items. I can't tell you for sure since I can't see the snake and don't know his weight but I know most bps eat rat pups only when they are pretty young. At 8 months he should be on small rats would be my guess. Good luck

Thanks for the advice. He went for the RP quickly, but not a second one about 10 minutes later. I'd like to make Wed or Thurs the regular feeding night so this worked out well.
The body's pretty big but the head looks so small I don't know if he's ready to move up to a larger size. Have 8 RPs left so I'll offer 2/week for the next 4 weeks and then go for next size up.

I read it somewhere and have avoided handling him until he's had 2 feedings so now I'll let him chill out until the weekend then weigh the little guy so I can monitor his growth and health.

Yep, small rat a week sounds about right. I feed all mine once a week as well and they've been growing at a healthy rate. Definitely let him digest for about two days before handling.

Other than that, i'd invest in a scale and monitor his weight. I use a website called IHerp.com (it's free) to keep track of feedings and shedding. The only pain is that they don't have an app but that's a first world problem. Others use notebooks, excel spreadsheets or record tracking software.

Tracking their meals comes in handy when they stop eating and it seems like they haven't eaten in a year when it's just been 3 months.
