I'd say don't go with the hanger... just give it time and when you approach to handle go relatively slow and avoid touching or coming directly at the head.. this should help. Really the best thing you can do is take the bites and continue handling otherwise you could condition your snake to associate biting with you removing your hand and thus every time you want to hold him he'll snap to keep you away... show him that it won't keep you away slowly and gently and over time and as he grows he'll adjust. In this case a little TLC goes a long way and though I have never been bitten by a snake (yet) I can't imagine it's much worse than a rat, sugar glider, dog, hampster, or rabbit... unless it's like a retic or something.
