grr....
So I was talking to my wife earlier about how I want to pick up on making bps and breeding a hobbie and she replays with reptiles can't be a hobbie. Hobbies are riding bikes or going to the gym. Having a reptile hobbie is like saying petting my cat is a hobbie. Made me so mad. She's afraid of snakes. I so wanted to grab one of my bps and put it down her shirt and watch her run scared but I was afraid my bp would get hurt. Sucks she can't see my passion for them.

Relax and acknowledge her point of view. Then work slowly at having her help you do little things like track feedings. This lets her participate in this "non hobby" and once you get her involved start parting KNOWLEDGE not your feelings about it and I bet she will take note that this might be a passionate HOBBY.

Yeah be patient,
even my dad now starts asking me questions about my snakes when my parents come over to visit me and he is/was scared sh*tless of snakes (my mother has always shown a big intrest in my snakes, even in the big 20 ft retic female i used to have)

I've already Tryed that. She wants nothing to do with the snakes. She doesent even go in the snake room. Lol. My kids love them tho. I'm more mad about her not supporting me even tho she doesn't like them. I support things I don't like cause I know how much it means to her. I just want the same respect.

You cant force someone to like something. Figure out what her fears are. Find a local educational outlet like a zoo or reptile facility. Takes time, dont be upset and find ways for her to participate.

lol @ her telling you the reptiles can't be hobby - sorry to hear your SO doesn't support your interest, but at least she tolerates it I suppose.

She tolerates them which I like. But makes me mad that she just shut me down like that when I was talking about something that makes me happy. I don't expect her to start liking them or hold them. Just show some support. Lol. My kids always try to give their bps to her and I have to explain that mom doesn't like them. They don't quiet grasp it yet.

Re: grr....
My wife is not a huge fan of snakes but she is really tolerant of them. However, everytime my daughter or I would ask if she wanted to hold one, she would decline. Well my daughter just picked up a baby hognose snake which is so adorable. Somehow that changed something for my wife. I am not sure why. Maybe its just the very small size or the cute turned up nose. Never the less, my wife has held the little one and even has fed her little F/T pinky mice and thinks it's cute.
Don't know if it will work for you but maybe try something really small like that and see if she will take an interest in it. Best of luck to you.

Slow and steady wins the race. Just be patient with her and respect her view point. Some day she may come around,or she may not. Just don't put a snake down her shirt, you will not like the results. You may even be all along with your snakes. Or worse.

Why do people expect that their significant others should share the same passion, enthusiasm and love for snakes???
I am married (very happily married should I add) and my husband does not understand my passion, does not like snakes and never step a foot in the snake room.........and it does not bother me at all.
The bottom line it is MY passion I am not expecting him to like what I like or share my passion, just like he does not expect me to love what he loves.
Forcing your passion on someone will also never accomplish anything beside pushing them even further away.
