    1) Best thing you can do is have the proper gauges to measure temperatures and humidity so once you have your setup you can see what needs to be dialed in.

    2) I have used both THG heat tape and ZooMed UTH heaters, both have worked fine for me.

    3) Regardless of what you use to heat you tank, thermostats are not optional but are required, no if and's or buts.
