Should I Switch To Clips Instead Of These Pins
Ok, so I am in the process of setting up my snakes enclosure to dial in the temps for when I get one soon. My 20g tank has pins to "lock" the tank so the top wont budge. My question is, in fear of my snake injuring itself if ever roaming around(i assume it will eventually) should i buy some clips instead.
The pins lock in the top, and sit close to the glass on the inside of the tank. There is about 1" of the metal fom the pins just hanging inside the tank that I figure could poke an eye or do damage to w.e part of the snake. Pics included.

seems a tad dangerous to me.. opinions?

As long as they are not sharp with a shard sticking out or something similar they should be fine. What I wonder about is if the snake could press the pin through and then get out. I don't know as I have never used or seen this system in person. Just thinking out loud.

haha i hear you... i was thinking the same thing. The top slides into the top of the tank itself so even if the pins are pushed up.. the snake would still need to find a way to push the lid across enough to escape. The lid is pretty stiff in there and a bit hard to pull open in general so I figure it cant get out... buut I hear they are crafty 'little' things so never know

yea... its basically like what you described, but with small pin holes for those pins. The lid basically slides into a track of sorts. Think that its meant for lizards moreso than snakes since it was sold in a "beardie kit" after all so you can keep the babies/small juvies away from the pins easily anyways
