cool eggs
I'm on day 30 something and I have noticed the eggs are cool and not really warm. Can that be a problem? After I installed the rhp I took out the uth. That was before the eggs tho. The ground gets warm but the eggs stay cool. First clutch so I'm still trying to figure it out. The worms are getting big in there so I know there's progress with them but I'm just a little bit worried. Should I put a uth back in tank for them?

Re: cool eggs
Sounds like you have no thermometer. You shouldnt have to feel the eggs to check the warmth.
If im wronnnngggggg.
Then just as long as the temps are reading fine and the thermometer probe is located in with the eggs you should be fine! Good luck
Just had some pips today. Tis the season!

I use a temp gun to keep track of heat inside the hide with eggs. It's normally 87 to 90. But the eggs feel cold to the touch when I pick them up to candle. My question is would they benefit better and thrive more with heat from below as well? First time clutch. So I'm a worrie wart. Lol

Re: cool eggs
The temp gun doesn't give you the ambient temp inside the hide, just the surface temp. Try sneaking a thermometer with a probe in there. Run the probe into the hide. The ambient temp is usually a couple degrees cooler than the surface temp.

Re: cool eggs
As others have said, check temps with actual measuring devices.
Your feel can be deceiving. Your body temp is somewhere around 98°F, where your eggs may be at 90°F. If your hands are running as warm as your body temp, this is going to result in them seemingly cool.

Your hands are not as warm as your body temp. Skin temp is normally in the low to mid 70s.
Like others are saying, trust your temp gun or thermometer.
