ok well new things with rex. i called the pet shop where i got him. they wouldnt tell me the breeders name:x. so i think hes first generation CB or FH. well my question is this...ever since i fed him the bigger mouse hes been way more active. his temperment seems better to. he lets me go right up to the cage and look at him. he looks back at me caustiously, but doesnt strike. i reach my hand in when he went to his cool hide to make sure he didnt regurgitate and he stuck his hgead back out and just watched me. could the reason he was so snappy be because he was hungry? because his food wasnt the right size?

It sounds like he's settling in and getting used to his new home. How long have you had him now?

Thank you, everyone!
They usually take about a week or so to acclimate to their new surroundings. Farmed bps aren't necessarily bad if they've been treated for parasites and whatnot.
As far as headshyness goes, don't worry about it- all bps have different personalities and temperments. Also, they tend to be less snippy as they mature and grow; so don't worry and just let him be a ball python!

Then I would assume his calmer demeanor is a combination of acclimation and a full belly.

BP noise tolerance
I can tell you that our Cali kingsnake is not one you want to try to handle a day or so before feeding day, but after he's been fed, he's just as sweet as can be. How often do you feed Rex?

Well then I would have to say that it was the larger prey item that did the trick.
