So I just got a new boa. I posted below asking about it. So she is 7 ft and about 6000 grams. She is big.she is also 12 yrs old. She seems healthy overall. I just fed her a few Days ago. I have noticed that while handling her sometimes she breaths of loud. But it doesn't have the high energy of a hiss. She also doesn't act mad or like she is going to strike. She just acts normal. What does this mean?
Also sometimes it feels like a bone or two will pop occasionally. Is that normal
    Thanks

This is common and the larger the snake, the louder the sound will be. They breath air like we do and when they are climbing, griping and doing their thing you will hear that exhale sound.

There is a video on You Tube of a huge retic crawling around, and it sounds like an air conditioner!

No worries unless it is wheezing or popping. Regular air exchange is not a concern.

Boas are also pretty good about letting you know when they are not happy.

The bone thing is quite common also. Think about it, they're all vertebrate.

It's not hissing. The sound is huffing. Like said above, it's just breathing heavier when active.

    Re: Hissing or not ?

All of this is common as stayed, as soon as my boa got 6 foot I noticed it also, i was worried about the cracking at first but as sonny1318 mentioned it's like cracking your back. It just happens sometimes

    Re: Hissing or not ?

Well that is good to know. It makes sense now that you put it like that. Thank you again
