    Noticed something weird...

I was checking in on my bp, and noticed something odd about one of her eyes.

One is glossy and shiny, and the other is flat black. She just shed about 3 weeks ago. She ate 2 jumbo mice and a small rat last week. ( I got her to come out of her fast, and tried to get her off mice. She took it like a champ.

Her temps and humidity is on point as always. I've just never seen this before so I'm hoping someone could shed some light on this one!

My guess would be retained eye cap.

Agreed. You could try this Buy some of the repti-shed from PETCO. They have the spray on type or the type you mix with water and rub onto them. I've used both but most recently I got the stuff you need to dilute and I put it into a mist bottle, not a spray bottle but one that lightly mists. My second BP had a shed issue with a retained eye cap and that stuff got it off right away and I didn't have to poke at his eye which I wanted to avoid doing. I also know of some one who has had luck using those plastic finger pieces that you can count money with, he just rubbed that over the eye and lightly rubbed it off.

Don't do anything, if it isn't turning cloudy and blue, it's probably just a retained eye cap.

If you keep your humidity high during the next shed, it will come off on its own.

Too many people hurt their snakes trying to take eye caps off.

True. The one little guy that I had that had a retained eye cap had his come off on his own. His humidity is the same as all the others but for some reason he has had two sheds that were not perfect so I just gave a light mist of that stuff and nothing else.

Sometimes shed just gets stuck for no logical reason.

My corn snakes humidity is at a constant 50% and for some reason his tail tip got stuck. I let it be and decided I would take action if it wasn't gone next shed... next shed was perfect, no more stuck shed.

I think they like to give us heart attacks lol

My BP has one eye that is slightly clouded too, but when we first got him, we checked his most recent shed (assuming less than an hour before, since it was still damp) and both eye caps were there. And all sheds since have both eye caps. I would make sure that the eye caps are on the shed skin.

    Re: Noticed something weird...

Does this look similar? I'm trying to figure out if my girl is suffering from it and what to do. The weird thing is that i checked her shed and the eyecups were there but if its possible it could be a retained eyecup at least i'll have something to go on. Her last shed was 11 days ago. I only just noticed though. Let me know what you think. Should I tae her too a vet or just wait until he next shed? The sheds are averaging about 60days in-between though.
