    Ball Python Behavior

I am a 1st time snake owner. We've had our 2 year old BP a little over a month. The guy at the pet store said he wasn't as friendly as the others, not mean just not as relaxed. I let him settle in for a few days (4-5 I think) The first week we started handling him he was shy and tense then his personality started showing and he wasn't being shy as well as didn't try to constantly get away when he was being handled. Suddenly he is back to being really shy.

Could be a ton of different things that caused it. Without knowing more I don't think there is a good answer to the problem. Most common reason would be going into shed. I've learned that they will have phases that come and go in between feedings, shedding, etc. I wouldn't worry about it and just check on him every couple days.

More info could help. Temp, humidity, environment. Has he ate for u yet? Also try not to hold him as much for about a week after u get him so he can settle down. When getting a new bp I don't hold him till he eats. It's trial and error with a new bp. Once u get the hang of his habbits and personality it will get easyier.
