I've never heard of Sky blue. I'd say American Blue

sky blue is a standard with AFRMA.

Looks like some shade of American blue (which sky blue falls under). I couldn't tell you which shade, as I don't bother to differentiate.

Doesn't have to be blue just because it is silver/grey. Could also be dove, if you have mink in your lines. Could also be pale mink. I've had more than a few mink colored rats that could have fooled me to be blue.

I'd vote sky blue or silver (PED of blue). If the eye color is ruby or pink, it'd be a silver. The face, from the picture, looks to be lighter than the rest of the body color, that'd be an indicator of silver IF it had dilute eyes. Google it, it isn't related to the silver gene, either - I'm talking about a self color (if all that wasn't confusing lol). Dove is a warmer color, usually, and mink is a cooler medium brown, much darker.

Using show standards as comparison for colors isn't reaaaaaally a fair comparison. A lot of the show quality colors look nothing like their pet standard counterparts.


Edit: That is to say, consider that the quality and saturation of colors in show bred animals is likely mush deeper and more even than a pet type animal. So keep that in mind, especially when comparing different 'shades' of color to show 'shades' as they probably do not match up genetically.

It's one of the sub-colors of American Blue, in my opinion.

And just to put it out there, Pink Eyed Dilute is pretty rare. Red Eyed Dilute is extremely common, however.
