im so xcited, i dont even know where to begin. i jsut bought a 55 gallon tank and screen lid, an undertank heater, a thermometer, humidty thingy, and i also got this nifty water fall thing for it for free, cuz the lady who sold me the tank said that she didnt have the pump for it, and i happen to have had a pump myself that i used for my lobster. so i made my own pipes and stuff, set that all up, and thus, wha lah! i have an awesome set up that i am very proud of. my biggest accomplishment was the fact that i got the 55 gal for $35 cuz it is cracked, so it cant hold water. well, i dont have a water snake, so im pretty darned lucky. ill get pix of it up hopefully tomorrow of the day after.

Are you planning to house a BP in there? If so, make sure there are plenty of hides (i.e. not just two). It would probably also help to add some vines and cover 3 sides of the tank. That much space could make a BP pretty nervous.

Also make sure you cover the crack(s) with something so that there's no possibility that the snake could cut itself. We had a tank crack on the bottom. I taped it up with packing tape, put down newspaper, then a piece of plastic pegboard cut to fit the bottom of the tank, then I put down the substrate.

Cool for you. I'm sure you'll have fun setting it up and tweaking it to get everything right. Smynx has good points about providing plenty of hides or foliage and making sure the crack can't cut your snake (if it's in a visible area, you might want to use aquarium sealant, otherwise tape should be fine).
