Is my BP going to bite?

Is there a way to tell if my BP is going to strike/bite? I was recently bitten by a Carpet Ball and I get startled easily when handling my BP now. He's never struck or bitten me, but I'm curious to kmow whether or not there are tell tale signs of it so I know when I need to put him back.in the enclosure. I just fed him, as well.

I have some that strike. Here is what I do and I have never been bit. I use a hook. I open their enclosure and expose them by removing the hide. Then if they hiss I leave them alone. If not I rub them with the hook and if they dont seem too upset I quickly pick them up. A BP is very unlikely to bite you while you are holding it. They will hiss if they are about to bite or they strike and warn you. My giant sized ones that look very scary are actually the more docile ones and now that I am comfortable with them I know they are very unlikely to bite and would warn me well in advance. I also leave them alone for 1-2 days after eating, while in shed, and if I handled them recently.

Hatchlings have more tendency to be a little nippy, but unless its a food bite, its not bad

The fear of getting bit is worse than the bite.
After a while you will know your animals habbits
and will see the signs,
you'll probably still get tagged though.

There is no such thing as a "Carpet Ball" so I assume you mean just a carpet python? But yeah just follow the advice of the others

They are rare though so I would assume that it was a carpet that the OP got bit by. If your worried about a bite, most will say the fear is worse. I have never been bitten but all the breeders I talk to ask me if I have. It comes with owning them, just like if you own a parrot it comes with being pooped on. I wouldn't worry about it with a BP though.

My friend who owns said snake told me it was a Carpet Ball Python, and I just assumed she was correct. But thank you for informing me.

The bite from the other snake wasn't bad, so I'm not afraid of the pain or anything, I'm more afraid of not knowing what to do if he does bite me. Amd I haven't had him that long (maybe a month and a half) and I'm just not sure of when he's just acting normal or if he's getting ready to strike.

Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely keep this on mind and try it next time I handle him.
