i jsut got a whole new set up for my ball!
Ippo just ate a f/t, and it was an albino to boot!!!
I was only going to try a prekilled today, but the pet store was all out of mice bigger than fuzzy size, and wouldn't get any more mice in for a while so I figured I might as well give a f/t a try.
Boy am I glad I did! I was really worried I was going to have a really difficult time converting Ippo from live to f/t, since the breeder I got him from hadn't managed to do it (and Ippo's 8 months old!).
Anyway, all I need now is a good shed to feel satisfied that Ippo is happy in his new home =)

Congratulations! Sounds like you've got a good eater. Frozen mice are great. You can keep hundreds of them, and they won't stink. Plus it gives you piece of mind knowing that mousicle isn't going to pass along parasites to your snake.

Question, I thawed a mouse the other day and it had a peculiar odor to it.....since you said they won't stink, does that mean the mouse had gone bad so to speak? I didn't feed it in any case....

Good cage?
Congrats to you and Ippo! That's a great thing.
Caren, probably what had happened was that the mouse had thawed and been refrozen once before. They do smell a little different after that.

Snake bit himself...
Caren, Marla's right about the smell. Usually they don't smell at all, which is why with some picky eaters, you might have to "scent" the thawed mouse or rat by rubbing it on a live rodent. But what I was referring to was the stench of live mice. We're down to 4 right now, and I'm hoping my 12-year-old will let me get rid of the last of them. They are stinky, stinky animals.

We've had 'rodents' as pets before and I know of what you speak....don't like keeping them myself, thanks for clarifying!
