    If you aren't really looking to breed, then a scale is nice to have but definitely not a necessity. As for the temp gun... I highly recommend it. You can manage well without one of course, but it's one of those things that once you have, you wonder how you ever managed without.

    Substrate wise I use unprinted newspaper in my rack. But if you want it to look pretty exo earth would be my choice. It retains humidity well and coco fiber tends not to mold. Just make sure you feed on something to avoid your bp getting a mouthful of substrate (I used to use a piece of slate as a plate).

    I see no issue with hot glue. But I may be wrong here. Aquarium safe silicone could be another option?
