I went out to do rat chores and couldn't belive all the babies! Every tub had a pile! I really need to build another rat rack!!!

I have some low quality hairless popping up again, they are the weird furred ones. They are scruffy until about 6 months, then they loose it all.

It really is! And you have to make the choice to feed them off young or figure out if you have room for them to grow out a bit!

In april/may I had way more rats than I knew what to do with... I made probably $60 selling all the extra.

June/july SUCKED! The heat really took its toll on my rats and I'm seeing litters of 8-9 rather than the usual 12-14 ._.
I have a bunch of people that want to buy rats from me right now too, but I can't provide it. Even in our family room it's 85 D:
I had to move my moms into the downstairs bathroom, which is the coolest room in the house.

I'm hoping once summer is done my moms start having good sized litters again ^^

You know what's crazy is that my rats have been in a basement for almost 6 years. This year was the first year I have had them outside in the barn and they are doing great. I really don't know why. They don't have AC, but it's not terribly hot in the barn. Who knows!

Ok so my 3rd litter just dropped. I now have 3 week old fuzzy babies running around. 8-10 day old fuzzy rats fumbling around and 1 days old nubs...

When do you pull them from the tubs and separate. Also do you ever separate male from female breeders. This is my first run at this and I am trying to figure out who to pull and when. I think I am going to pull 1 day olds and mom with another mom tonight and place in separate container.

None have been eaten and on the 10 day olds if you open the tub, ALL of them form a wall around the babies.. male and females.

    Tips and pointers appreciated...
