Absolutely agree!! They are my favorites now, hands down, and I'll always have one (or two, or three). They're interesting, fun, and beautiful to look at. This is my 1 year old male, looking better than ever -

Wow,, mouth of the Black Mamba LOL!

I think I'll have to snap a few new pictures of my girl.

She isn't as colorful as some of these, but she is so different from the BC and royal that she seems to glow anyhow.

Hey LOUD that's a beautiful carpet. Do you mind me asking who/where you got him from? Seriously considering picking up a male in the near future just as a pet but I would love one who would grow into those nice bright yellows.

Haha he's a little badass, alright!! He has plenty of attitude and that's why I love him.

Would love to see pictures of your carpet! I've never seen one that I didn't think was stunning, regardless of color/brightness or whether it's high black or high yellow. There is so much more to carpets that I'm drawn to - head shape, eyes, pattern, and of course, their temperament. Just really awesome snakes

Thanks!! And I don't mind at all - I got him from Inland Reptile, and hope to have more carpets from Nick in the future. Mine is just a pet as well, I just figured that if I was getting a snake that'll live 20+ years, might as well go with my favorite look! I asked for a bright, clean yellow and the breeder definitely delivered. And carpets are just great pets regardless... active, almost always in plain sight, and a lot more interactive than I thought a snake would be.

OK, time to add to the fire so to speak.

This is my coastal, or jungle or coastal x jungle. Both parents are clearly coastal and her colors could change as she is only a year and 2 months old.

This is a skinny little 3 footer. She has settled down a lot in a short time.

    Wonderful species of snake.

She was not line bred for any special traits, so the colors are pretty "natural" I guess as far as carpets go in the US.

It was a nice day for pics so I took a bunch.

Inland Reptile is a great spot to learn. I highly recommend the book THE COMPLETE CARPET PYTHON written by the owner of Inland Reptile. Nick Mutton has done an excellent job explaining the various species and after reading his web page and looking through the beginning of the book, I can see that my coastal that looks jungle could very well be coastal. As a matter of fact the DNA is the same so jungle could in a sense be a locality of coastal.

I'm sure as time goes on things will sort out further.

    Keep the pictures coming.

I'll bump this and add another photo. Carpets are too cool to ignore.

    Head shot!
