pics of cal king trying to kill and eat herself

this is a 2010 dark phase Ghost cal king female, I took her outside to get pics of her the other day and things almost did not end well for her lol...
in my opinion the original Ghost cal kings had something wrong with their brains, it's not easy to explain but I have a lot of cal kings, and the way the Ghosts acted was completely different from anything else. anything that touches this snake she will turn around and bite it thinking it's food, so during the photoshoot (literally at the beginning of it) she kept turning around trying to get me, and eventually grabbed herself. She then started constricting and trying to kill herself. After about 10 mins of her struggle with her personal demons, her breathing started to get weird so I figured it was time to untie her. Crazy suicidal snake.

    That's hilarious.

Just goes to show how strong a feeding response cali kings can have.

The EXACT same thing happened to me last night. It was why I got on the board to ask about in the first place. I just moved my cal king up to a hopper since she has been eating three fuzzies for a few weeks. It was not enough food, and she went for one of my knuckles three days later. I knew she was still hungry because she has never done that before. So, I figured I should feed her some more. I put her in her feeding tub and she mistake her tail for food and started "eating herself!" I figured she would figure this out quickly but it became quickly obvious she had not. So I pulled her tail out of her mouth. She had gotten a 1/2 in. Crazy! I wonder what would have happened.

My female MBK gets must more food-driven during the spring and early summer and she will go after fingers whether you've been handling rodents or not. I've started hooking her if I need to handle her, spot clean, change water, etc.

Also, I don't feed her just because she's acting hungry, or she'd be as fat as a tick.

I suggest a helmet, crayons, and a round room for snakey.
