Just a thought

I was sitting here pondering the 1k wall.
I have 3 girls that just wont grow! They are all right at 3 years old give or take a couple months.
They will eat but once the hit 1k they go off. This has been for at least a year.

My question is: Has anyone ever tried pairing an older small girl to get her back to an eating machine?

I know what our general age and weight ideas are but I cant be the only one that has thought of this.

I've heard of breeders breeding their 900g females because they wouldn't grow anymore (3+ years old) and one of them popped out 9 perfect eggs!

But there are no scales in the wild. Pair them up and see what happens. I have had some start feeding and some lay eggs. There is no magic weight to start breeding in the wild. If their body thinks it can handle it....

A lot of times just having a single lock will trigger a female to pack on weight. I have done it many times in the past and it has always worked. I had one female who would not go past 800 grams and was 4 years old so I tossed a male in and they locked. The next year she was almost 2k and gave me perfect eggs. I have also had them produce from that lock and they were perfect eggs and the females exploded in size after that.

When one of my pastels was about 3 or so she stopped eating right around Thanksgiving (979 grams). She, up until then, was eating an adult mouse every 5-7 days. She went a full 5 months and nothing which I just chopped up to "normal ball python behavior". On day while talking to a buddy who owns a shop here, he mentioned to try a rat instead......I did and she's been killing them since!

Some of mine like mice and then like rats, others go off rats and start eating mice. Worked for me anytime one of mine goes off food for any considerable amount of time.

Hate to break it to you but I have over 300 rats and 100 mice on hand at all times in my rodent shed.
This isn't picky eater issues.
