The answer to that is YES and NO. The reasons are this. Bp's can be aweful picky eaters, do require strict environmental control and so on. A person must ask themselves if they are willing to put the time and effort and dedication into the bp itself. And you must be honest with yourself on if you plan on putting in the dedication and time and effort. Can bp's be good beginner snakes, YES absolutely, for the right person! All this is really up to you. It is not really for anyone but you to decide. My first snakes were king and corn snakes and ribbon snakes and such... I am now 30 years old, have some experience and knowledge- be it not all, and I am still learning... however, I do very much enjoy the time it takes, attention, care and such that my ball pythons require..do I regret getting my bp's- heck no! Do I feel I am in over my head- heck no! Would a bp been good for me as MY first snake- absolutely not, and only cause back then I was really not willing to put in the dedication and time they need..and the expense in the long run. It is all about being honest with yourself about your abilities and what you are willing to do for that animal. In any case, I wish you good luck in your decision, if you do get one, please feel free to come back and continue to ask questions, thats what we are here for, and please share pics when you can as we ALL enjoy them!
