So the girlfriend went to the pet shop unsupervised today ......

I am now the new owner of a 100% Het Caramel Albino Female (proven breeder) ... I weighed her at 1304g she looks a lil skinny, they said her last laid clutch was this year so I am assuming that for the reason of her underweight issue ( I will add pictures this evening after I get home) .... Anyways I have looked around some and can't find much on breeding Caramel Albino ... Was inquiring on some opinions on what to look for to breed with her and what mixes well with Caramel Albino and ofcourse any other info or knowledge of this morph anyone feels like adding, Thanks !

You should be able to find a lot on caramels with some basic searches. Lots of kinking in offspring and female caramels tend to slug out. I have a pair of hets that I bought when I first started in the hobby and she ovulated last month so waiting on eggs. This will be her second clutch. Last years clutch was a disaster (all kinked). Giving her another year before I jump ship to ultramels. PM me if you need a male for her.

Yeah they can look like crap after laying. Some will get a thinned out back with ridge of the spine showing. It's not easy on them that's for sure.

i think caramel albino is really falling out of fashion. the genetic issues, with the female sub-fertility and kinking, are quite problematic. so people are more interested in the alternatives, like candy/toffee and ultramel. then there also is lavender albino and the regular classic albino.

to state the completely obvious, caramel albino is recessive. so both parents must have the caramel albino gene, or you will get nothing visual. if you breed it to anything other than a male that is either a visual caramel albino or a het caramel albino, all you will get is normal-looking possible hets.
