whistling?

is it normal for a smaller bp to whistle when they breathe heavy? she only does it when she is spooked by something but not when she is breathing normally. there is no mucus in her mouth, nothing coming from her nose, and she has been eating fine. . . my fiercest eater. her tank is set at 84 ambient 78 cool side and 88-90 hotspot with 50-55 humidity. i may just be over worrying but would like to be sure

It can be normal. I've had perfectly healthy bp's make whistling sounds when they breathe. I've heard them do it after being submerged in water. It can also happend if a small piece of shed is stuck in their nostril. As long as it's not accompanied by any of the other signs of RI, I wouldn't worry about it.

ok thank you, that helps. . . i will still keep an eye on her and make sure no sign of an RI pop up but i wont be worrying to much now

It can definitely be normal. I know you said no mucus, but have you opened the mouth to really check well? RI's are good to catch early, but yeah...just had a hatchling yesterday that hissed at me and it came out as a whistle. Perfectly normal.
