Very nice Gio. Gratz on the new carpet.

Pretty sure 3skulls breeds carpets among other snakes. I'd recommend hitting him up for info if necessary. He's a good dude too. Gave me advice on tarantulas and roaches.

Congrats on the pickup. If you're still looking, can buy the book straight from Nick's website.

    Re: Very excited!

    More pictures.
This was sold to me as a Coastal Carpet, I could care less and really don't see an advantage in lying about a coastal being a jungle or vice versa. I'm fairly aware that carpets in the states are some type of mix for the most part. Purity is hard to come by and I can accept that. I was lucky enough to even get one.

I'm open to comments, thoughts and ideas as to what this may or may not be. Earlier I posted a photo of both parents that truly looked coastal and they are at least partially. There is huge variability in the species, crossing, diluting and so on.

I'm not sure how those parents produced this, but here we go.

This animal could have major color change as its only a year old. My cage maker, Ed Lilley, also high end carpet breeder feels this animal could well be coastal OR jungle OR both.

    Pattern shot.

    More pattern.

    Head pattern from the top.

    Different shot from the side.

    Most of the body.

    Belly

    Side

    Better head shot.

    Last one.

Oddly her colors look better in pictures than in real life.

Supposed to be the mother. I was told it was questionable as to what she was 100%.

    Both parents in this pic.

I'm not familiar enough with coastals to give any feedback in that regard but you do have a nice looking snake there.

Thanks, I like her no matter what. Jungles and Coastals are very close in relation and they very a great deal. I will be curious to see the end size result and color change.

In a way, I'm rather hoping for a cross as I don't want anything too huge, but only because I'd have to upsize the cage.

I'll be bumping up the feeding soon and we should see some changes.

I'll also be getting that book!

Nice snake you have there! I'm hoping to get carpet one day and the one you have is very nice. I wonder, just as you said, what it will look like in the future.

Thanks. I've been do a lot of research and things are classed and reclassed frequently. There is a study that shows DNA of coastal and jungle carpet pythons is the same and one could consider the jungle a "locality" of coastal. It could also explain why there are some very large jungle carpets out there. Almost everything, note I said almost, in the US has about 30 years of crossing and diluting going on. Looking at some of the Aussie carpet pictures and forums, you can see a lot of differences. I may end up with a giant, or a very colorful, small snake. It's sort of fun not really knowing. Yet I do know the mother is 9.5 feet long.
