 Looking back, what would be the first female's you would purchase to breed?
Hey guys,
A friend and I have decided to start breeding as a hobby. I've been doing my research and have an idea what girls I wanna pick up, but would like to hear different opinions on good places to start.

It depends on how old you are and what your interests are. I'd suggest bars, school, work, the gym - all good places to start picking up girls for your breeding hobby.

Im with Eric... dont forget church. WalMart if you like to live dangerous.
I put together a master list of what 3 2-gene males would make with 8 or 9 females. I did the "math" on optimum output and chose WHAT I LIKE THE MOST. I dont care about the market or sales.

I think I've done pretty well with my first females. My very first female is my leopard girl. Only "regret" I have is my first BP wasn't a female. I never thought I'd have more than one so I went with a male so he'd stay smaller.
Anyways I choose my girls off of the morphs I want to make. Then I but 2-3 gene males to pair them with. I'm expecting three pairings/clutches next year and none of them have the potential for normals.

since you're asking in terms of breeding as a hobby, i suggest get few or even just one of the best you can afford instead of more number of lower quality females for the same amount of money. breeding one or few great clutches is more satisfying than producing a ton of average snakes. and breeding just a few carefully selected snakes gives a better chance of producing more keepers, thus sparing the hobbyist from having to sell off too many unwanted hatchlings.

Not a bad list. I think visual recessive females are also a good choice. You can pair them with any codom or dom gene you might like to combine with the recessive, hold back a male, and be producing the visual combo a year later.

I love BEL. That's probably where I should start since it combines a strong gene and a snake I love.
