Since the only ball python I have is my pet, I keep him in my room, which is AC cooled and stays around 70-72. I don't have any problems with heat or humidity at all. The temps in his tank stay a constant 80* cold side and 90* hot side. Humidity is always 50-60%.
To keep the temp up on his cool side I use a ceramic heat emitter. At first I used a red heat bulb, but I didn't like the light shining on him all the time and he did seem to notice it, it seemed. Since I switched to the CHE, he doesn't seem bothered at all and doesn't seem to notice it or pay any attention to it from what I can see. Since I have a screen top, I also cover half of it with aluminum foil to help keep the heat and humidity in.
