    Lesser platinum?

Good evening, friends of this forum I am new, and since you are a master in the art, they sold this baby as Lesser platinum, but I understand the Lesser platinum is the one with daddy platty het? Can I trust you to help friends about it.

    Re: Lesser platinum?

A lesser platinum is just a lesser, which is what this guy is. Lesser just means it's a platinum without the daddy gene. If it had daddy it would be a platty daddy.

clarify it with the breeder first, the problem is that the language on this is quite inconsistent.

so ask whoever sold it to you specifically if this is a single-gene lesser/butter or if it is a two-gene lesser/butter + het daddy.

for me, personally, i think "lesser platinum" is an old name for what we today call lesser/butter, and the two-gene thing would be a "platty daddy" or something like that, but im really not sure, i also heared people say that a "lesser platinum" should be a 2-gene animal with het daddy in it.

nope, i refuse to identify this right now, dont get me wrong, the pictures are good. i just want some other fellow forum members to say what they think it is, before i disclose my own judgement.

Thank you so much, they sold it as Lesser platinum, not as Lesser, and because they had told me that the Lesser platinum comes from the Lesser daddy platty parents

lessers can come from lessers or platty daddy.
clarify with the seller whether the actual parents of your snake are platty daddy, because with the statement quoted, the seller could have simply been be refering to the first lessers coming from the original platty daddy of RDR.

As far as I know, "lesser" is just a shortening of "lesser platinum". Lessers got their name because the original platinum was a wild caught snake, and they had no idea what its genetics were. Breeding it resulted in snakes that looked sort of like daddy...but not all the way. Thus, they were "lesser platinums". The original snake became known as the "platty daddy", so when they figured out about the other gene that is needed to make the difference between lessers and platinums, it ended up being known as the daddy gene. So, lessers do not have the het daddy gene. If they did, then they'd be platinums, not lesser platinums.

As far as I know, the only other wild caught snake carrying the lesser gene is the one that was called "butter" because it was unknown at that time that lesser and butter are probably the same thing. So... in theory... all lessers, whether you call them lesser or lesser platinum, descend from the original platty daddy.
