Breeding "Season"

So I've noticed a lot of breeders start breeding around November/December and refer to the time as the "Breeding Season." But is this the only, or best time to breed? If you control the temperatures of the hotspot and ambient room temperature, couldn't you choose to breed at any time during the year? Also, is there anyone who doesn't follow that specific breeding season and breeds at anytime during the year?

The "breeding season" is all dependent on your ball pythons. We have had ours breed in November all the way up to July. We don't change anything for our balls and have gone to maternal incubation. Our snake room is heated with an electric oil heater set at 87 constantly. The ambient temperature does change naturally on its own of course. Our balls eat while on eggs and they regulate the temps of the eggs as well. They will create a gap around the eggs to cool them or vibrate on them to heat them.

Personally I feel that on the norm, we as a whole, do not provide the ideal settings for ball pythons. We do what works.

My girls go all year long! I start pairing females once a month when they hit 1500g until they go. After their first clutch, my girls tend to lay around the same time every season. I have multiple girls I havent even started to pair yet for this season.

I saw you say that you think we don't provide ideal settings for BPs on a few posts, but you aren't saying what you do think is ideal. Genuinely curious here. I hope you'll share.

How long after they lay do you start pairing them again? When they are back up to pre-breeding weight? After a certain number of months?
