Plywood for a small time rack system- okay or not okay?

Is plywood that's been sanded down okay for ball python racks? I would prefer melamine but I walked out with the wrong kind of material Is there anyway to salvage the situation if plywood is toxic or inappropriate for ball pythons? Can I dip it or putty it in something to make it more friendly?

I apologize for the odd question. I don't build things frequently if at all. I think I constructed an Eiffel tower out of toothpicks once.
    Thanks in advance!

You can seal it with... stuff. I don't know the proper name for sure so I'll let someone else with more expertise answer. But yes, you can use plywood, as long as the type you got is sturdy enough.

Thanks! It is 1/2 inch thick, so pretty sturdy

EDIT: Ignore my silly scribbles on the tub. I like to marker things.

seal the plywood with laminating epoxy or varnish...constant exposure to high humidity will quickly delaminate the plywood.

Thanks! The two shelves are the only ones not laminated, yet. But I'm finishing everything tomorrow

Oh it's okay, sorry in my post I wasn't totally clear. I have never made a rack before and this was my first so there is a lot of Frankenstein look to it still. I so appreciate everyone's help on it.
