    Question about Retic Pricing...

I've been looking at Retics for a while now, they're just very fascinating to me. It would be awesome to just get a nice 1.1 or 1.2 just to raise and have fun with and while the main thing keeping me from it is the space required, theyh're also fairly expensive snakes.

With what seems to be an abundance of Retics in the hobby and females laying 20-80 eggs I just wonder why theyh're mostly $1000 and up, with a few exceptions.

Also, if you could suggest a nice, reasonable pair of retics to make some cool stuff, what would you suggest and what's ball park on a 1.1 of what you're suggesting?

    Thanks!

There is so much wrong with this post I don't know where to begin, or even if I can justify giving it a response. You need to do a lot more research if you are even thinking about getting a retic. I feel as if you've read maybe one thread of information, took the wrong parts of the information, then turned it into this.

If you want a mainland tic, they start out at $85 for a normal, 125 for a tiger, 400 for a super tiger. 450 sunfire tiger, 900 sunfire tiger platinum. 1250 Ivory poss tiger / super tiger. Then we have the albino complex - 350 for a standard white, 450 for a purple, 400 for a lav. Then you have new morph combos that will fetch those higher prices into the thousand+ range (Phantoms still sell for 4-5k).

So why are they so expensive? I just fed 22+ lbs of meat to feed 5 adult retics this morning. That's a weekly thing. They are expensive to get up to breeding size, and then it takes a lot of work. Not just putting them together and hoping for the best. People also paid in a lot of money to get these combos started (Motleys were 5,000 not too too long ago when the people first bought them then sold their offspring combos for 1-5k per).

this info should get you started more or less.

Also...realize dwarf and superdwarf retics stay smaller than normal retics...

but yeah...I think you need to do a LOT more research before even looking into seriously buying retics....and more likely than not you will NOT make a profit on your venture with only 1.1 pair of normal retics.

Some snakes you can get away with going into it blind and just figuring it out as you go. I would not recommend doing that with a smart snake that is going to get decent size to it. A little more research before you hop into the retic side of things would probably be a good idea.
