    My First Clutch!! W00t w00t!

So Today was a day of ups and downs. First my car broke down on my weekly 300 mile drive to pick my daughter up and come back home. About an hour into the drive my car starts to over heat and I have to park it. Had to have my GF come pick me up and continue the long drive and get my car on the way back home and hope i can still drive it when it cools off.

Well i was able to pull that off and get my car home but it still needs parts and work. But I went to do my evening watering of the snakes and I found something...

My Orange hypo female I paired with just my normal male(my first pet snake ever) dropped a healthy 4 egg clutch. This is my first clutch ever and I honestly didnt think that she was going to lay anything this year. I didnt notice any of the normal signs either.(not that I am a pro at that either) But she was also on the smaller size to pair when i did just for giggles.

Anyway long story short, I really wasnt expecting to get a clutch this season and have been very pleasantly surprised.

It was my Normal male and Orange hypo. Nothing special by today's standards but I am all kinds of hyped up about it. One of my goals as a hobbyist doing this, is to always have a snake from my very first pet's blood line. If I can hatch at least one of these out I can say I have started down that path.

That is a great plan - I remember my first snakes ( Cleo ) first clutch very well for that exact reason. Her daughter also let me become a "snake grandpa"

Not every breeding has to have intrinsic value simply because it has some fancy gene in it.

I'll stop now before I sound like an old hippy.

I just weighed the Eggs and the one that wasnt stuck to the rest was 83 grams and the other 3 totaled 249, so they all averaged 83 grams. Not the biggest eggs but like i said, i lighted them and they look good.

I will get more pics tomorrow once i get their temps in their egg box settled. Im so pumped up about this. Its like being a kid again on christmas morning.

Congrats! Isn't that the coolest thing to find eggs?! Doesn't look like she wanted you to take them either!
