Custom PVC cage
We are moving next week, and I want Oliver to have a PVC cage that meets all of his needs, yet is also aesthetically pleasing to look at. He's now almost 3' long and ready for a size upgrade. He's now in a 30 gallon aquarium. I give up on trying to maintain proper temp and humidity in a glass aquarium.
I contacted Animal Plastics today to see what we can create. I am thinking along the lines of 60 w x 36 d x 24 h.... Lots and lots of room for Oliver to explore, swim, and climb.....
I wonder if the entry to the cage could be in the back for an uninstructed view in the front.... I'm curious to see what they say.
I'd love comments and ideas :-) thanks, Pamela

Re: Custom PVC cage
Keep in mind that bigger is not always better when it comes to BP cages.
In the wild, they spend most of the day in a termite mound hiding. At night, they come out to ambush their prey from the entrance of the termite mound. Then they go back into the mound to do it all over again the next day. To put it mildly - they don't get out much and have earned the nickname "Pet Rocks of the Snake World" for a reason.
In addition to the above, it is important to think about how easy maintenance/husbandry is going to be for the both of you with a larger cage. More space = more to clean = more to regulate properly.
Don't get me wrong - I'm the last person to call into question an order from Ali and Animal Plastics, but just keep in mind what's best for Oliver when you ultimately make your decision.
Best regards,
Eric

Re: Custom PVC cage
I think an AP T12 is going to be more than enough for Oliver. I have a T12 split for two snakes and they seem to be very happy with their home. Just my opinion.
