Quick Check
So Getting my new guy all set up. Here is what setup I had, based on extra stuff I had at house. Plan on changing to aspen bedding and placing a hide on left side of tank and upping the size of the one on the right, not a fan of the open log. Has a temp controlled UTH on right and not shown is my redlight, low watt to just help ambient stay above 80 degrees. UTH stays between 90-92. Am I missing anything? Think in the next year or so, he is going in a rack system... much easier than the tank...lol

It looks really nice! What's your humidity, and how are you measuring temps and humidity? It looks like the screen top isn't covered. Most people have trouble keeping humidity up in glass tanks, so I'm wondering if yours is too low.

LoL, so for ambient temp I crank up my heat lamp, 50 Watt, use a normal humidifier onto the hot side of the tank; adjusting its flow until it hits my 87-88 on hot side, then I place my hydrometer on the left side of the tank and keep it at 60%. Once again, balancing out dimmer on light and humidity level on humidifier until it matches. Was a pain at first but experimented with the heat/humidity level with cornsnakes, since they are less finicky about all the levels. I have a probe heater on the UTH, outside the tank, and when it gets too cold or too much humidity on the hot side I just stick a towel over the left side. Raises humidity and retains more heat. Sounds a LOT more complicated than it is, but it works. All future BP's will be going into a rack system, for sure....lol

It does sound really complicated! But if it works for you, that's great! I'm glad we have ours in a rack, it makes everything so much easier

Yeah... I can't wait. It is pretty much balance the humidity to lower heat ye maintain higher humidities. Now to work on convincing the wife to let me get more than one BP, and get a rack system will be more financially viable.. 6 month long "discussion" here I go!
