I use coco husk and it hold humidity very well. If your humidity doesn't stay as high as needed you could add some dampened sphagnum moss, but not entirely for substrate. Just like Kat Dog said, it could cause scale rot and you don't want that! That's an expensive trip to the vet, not to mention what your snake will go through!

i second this use coco husk for overall substrate.. Good humidty, Cheap, Great for spot cleaning, and Mold/Bacteria resistant unlick most wood
