    Pastel x Spider odds?

My first clutch of this year is hatching and I was just hoping for at least one bumble bee from the pairing. The pairing was a virgin Pastel female to my (proven by a distant past owner) Spider male. 2 of the 7 eggs pipped so I cut the rest and was amazed to see that none of them look to be normals or regular pastels (I was expecting at least 2!). It looks like 6 bees and 1 regular spider. According to WOBP only about 1/4 of the clutch should have been bees. I could see being very lucky with maybe 3 or 4 but 6? and having the spider gene in all 7 babies with no normals and no pastels seemed weird to me to have that kind of luck. I have read that there is no super spider or that it's lethal or something like that but his genes are definitely dominating this clutch. I was wanting a bee to change over to a 2 gene male for my pastel girl next year but now I'm not so sure I shouldn't hold him another year and see if I get the same odds next year. What do you think?

Some ppl believe that there is a super spider and it just look like a normal spider so there know way to tell the different. Do you know the pair of the parents by any chance. I would go for your killer be but keep in mind the spider if it is true breeding the male to a super pastel would give you all bees that be cool

No, unfortunately I don't know the parents of the spider . I got him from someone who got him from someone. I currently don't have any super pastel girls to breed him to or I would be even more tempted to keep him an extra year. I really doubt he is a super, but I do have gecko males that tend to throw babies that look more like themselves than the mother. Not sure if it could work that way with ball pythons or not but it would be kinda cool if he could!

odds are what they are. There was a chance to get 7 bees, there was a chance to get all normals also and everything in between.

Since the super spider has been so elusive, take pictures of this clutch, post them here. Start documenting it. Next year, see if you can repeat the same results.

    Re: Pastel x Spider odds?

Ok, I'll post pics of the full clutch once they're all out. I do have a pic from tonight with the normal spider already out of his egg (he was the first one fully out). The rest are still in the egg (the bees). I also have a few with the first 2 that pipped (spider and bee) that my boyfriend took with his phone. I think I also have pictures of the first lock I had with the pastel and spider although I wouldn't think that's needed really. I believe you're most likely right in saying that they did have a chance to all be spiders but that's still pretty cool that I had such great luck with this clutch when I was crossing my fingers for just one bee!

They're all out! The spider is a very curious little guy! He's not shy at all and comes right out of the tub to see what's going on. Was hard to get him to sit still long enough to snap a pic. I'm guessing the yellow on the bees will come in more after a few meals and sheds? Right now they look pretty white/pink yet.
