noo eggs!!

dam ive been trying for months .. i still got no eggs .. ive witnessed many locks .. my female is close to 3 years and is over 2000g .. my male is producing sperm .. i just don't know whats going on .. i tried to feel for eggs but idk what im doing this is my 1st year doing this .. i have been putting my male in once a month ..i just want to know if theres a cut off date or can i just keep pairing and trying ? .. i was really hoping for a male something out of the paring to use next year

I'm pretty sure you can technically breed balls all year round in captivity but most people prefer this time of year, as it is Ball Python breeding season.

What's the rush though? If nothing happens this year, you've got next breeding season. Especially if its your first time.

I've always thought the three day rule was one that was followed by a lot of breeders. (Put the male in with the female for three days, then out for three days.) So you could try that method.

yea i know i got next season but i was hoping for something out the clutch this season ..
im sure a water bowl has nothing to do with it .. besides i would take the water bowl out when the male is introduced so there is nothing in the way

I think that giving the females plenty of food and water in the fall is vital to breeding. Females lose a huge portion of their body weigh producing eggs. If the environmental conditions aren't right I feel that for their own well being they won't produce. Ask any breeder that's experienced a drought during breeding season and I bet they had a weaker year. Also, a drought means less for rodents to eat and produce so a dry fall means less meals for ball pythons and their babies in the spring. I feed heavy in the fall and make sure they always have fresh water and proper humidity. In addition, I see my snakes drink quite a bit when they are feeding strong. I can see the females behavior in the fall and pretty accurately guess who is going to produce and who won't. I remove the water bowl when my snakes are paired up as well but that's not really the point.

try leaving the water bowl in so that there is something wet in the way

just joking. you can leave it in, or take it out when its just for a day or two.

keep trying, it should work eventually.

yea I know the point was the jab at the water bowl thing .. but I guess all u people are just so stuck on that I didn't have water bowls in my tubs u act like I was depriving them of water ..
when i1st stated breeding the water bowls were in tubs ok I since I kept snakes I kept wate bowls in the tubs I took them out to try something for a couple of months just like stated In that post ... and also stated in that post the I put the bowls back in the tubs ..

so can we please get over the water bowl thing already ..

there was never no drought my snakes have been eating weekly and gaining weight and growing perfectly healthy ..

I find it interesting when people ask questions but refuse to listen to others with more experience. Sounds like you have all the answers so continue on. What I was trying to say was that not having water may instinctually make them feel like there are drought like conditions...Maybe she was building and reabsorbed during those couple months.

You made a change by removing their water source.
Have you had any clutches laid before doing this?
You played an experiment with your snakes and then asked about it so don't get all pissy when it comes back to bite you.
I guess you cannot say it didn't affect them the way you thought.
