Hi folks,
I just recieved this from Herp Digest, thought a few of you would find it interesting:

Increasingly Ordinances Regulating Private Possession of Exotic
Animals Are Enacted on Local Level
Created by the Animal Protection Institute, at
http://www.api4animals.org/375.htm you’ll find a partial list of cities
and counties that prohibit or strictly regulate the private possession
of certain exotic animals. Given the difficulty in researching every
city and county code, they have provided only a sampling. Still, its one
of the largest I’ve yet to find on the net. If you’re aware of a city
not listed please contact Nicole Paquette at API.

(Editor’s note: As you go through the list you’ll see that town
ordinances on the keeping of exotic or dangerous animals varies. What is legal
in one county could be illegal in a town within that county. Also the
government officials who write and enforce these rules also vary. It
could be the Zoning Board in one town, the Board of Health in another.
Keeping in mind that “ignorance is no excuse when breaking the law,”
anyone who wishes to keep herps as pets, to breed or even conduct a
scientific study, should investigate what exactly the laws are where they
live or work).

Thanks
Rusty
