well sorry to jump in here as I do not own, nor have I worked with the beautiful JCP. I have heard that they can be nippy when younger, but then again what snakes aren't really nippy when younger (besides BP's ) I have also heard that they are very nice to keep as display animals and such. I believe I read earlier that they are semi-arboreal but that is just something i'm throwing out there because I think that I read that when I was researching them. Here are some links:

Jonah hit it on the nose. Another website that is useful is: http://www.newenglandreptile.com/CareCarpet.html
The can grow to be about 6 1/2-7 feet long, usually very docile as long as you regularly handle it. Hatchlings can tend to be nippy, but it's really not a big deal. For one thing, if you hold it a lot, it will probably grow out of it quickly, and the bites aren't bad enough to break skin or leave any sort of mark. I would much rather tame down a hatchling then a full grown adult. Those bites can get pretty nasty (especially a feeding response bite, lol). In my opinion, Jungle carpet pythons are definately a great beginner snake (even better than ball pythons). They feed READILY, I have not noticed a difficult transition from mice to rats (when they are hatchlings they are not big enough to take anything but a mouse fuzzy), yes they can be nippy, but like I said, big deal. The don't grow to be a huge unmanageable size. I can take my 6'5 female out of her enclosure on my own and handle her without a problem. She's a little over 2kg. None of this 40 pound stuff, lol, that can come with a big snake. They stay slender, and in my opinion are semi-arboreal. Mine lives in the branches.
That's just a couple things. Any other questions you can always email or PM me. emroul@cox.net
