i would not use any product directly on the snake.

even when you really have mites, it is not necessary to use any chemicals directly on the snake.

every now and then a snake shows signs of poisoning or weird behavior or scales flaking off or something like that after someone sprays it. some people even manage to kill their reptiles this way. and every time i wonder why the owner decided to take this unnecessary risk. especially when there are no mites involved.

PAM is good for two reasons: it works, and its safe.

spray it on all surfaces that can absorb it. if the hide is made of porous rock or wood, spray it. if its smooth plastic, dont spray it. if you sprayed smooth surfaces that can easily be cleaned, just wipe it off. PAM is for the substrate / paper towels, and for decorative items that are difficult to clean. it doesnt even work on smooth surfaces, because there wont be any mite eggs on smooth surfaces.
