He may have had a retained shed on his head that you didn't notice that came off when he shedded again. I'm going to bet that his next shed you'll see only one layer. Perfectly normal if it was a retained shed and I wouldn't worry about it. Glad he had a good shed, make sure to keep your humidity up next time and you shouldn't even have to assist!
