I'm worried that if I do that, then my snake will escape, even though I know there's no way she could fit through a hole that small. I'm too damn paranoid.

If you take a scrap from a pair of hose or a stocking, you can put it over the end of the fogger hose, secured with a rubber band. After that, put the end through the screen top and put another rubber band on the other side of the screen to prevent it from being pushed back out.

You can use small zip ties instead of rubber bands, just make sure you smooth out any sharp edges when you cut off the excess.
