Do I have a stressed bp??
Hi guys. Sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong section, I'm fairly new!
My question is, is my bp stressed? And how can I tell if she is becoming stressed? How can I tell if she is content? She is approx. 1ft 9in , and approx 205 grams.
She is currently in a 50 gal terrarium with three of the sides darkened. I have a large branch that stretches across her enclose and stretches up. She is ALWAYS on the stick, in the middle of the terrarium. Sometimes she loosely balls up and rests with her head on top of her coils, and sometimes she lounges stretched out over the stick. I have a hide directly under her heat lamp, and one in the middle (because I noticed that's where she appears most comfortable) and when she leaves the stick she goes the the hide in the middle. My temps are at 88( approx) and 77 (approx) I have yet to feed her as I've only had her three days. Her next feeding time is next Friday.
Thanks for all help and advice!! Here is a pic of her currently

Do you have a regulated uth with thermostat making the 88 degrees? For it being 3 days , they usually need about a week to get used to its new home.

I've ordered one and I'm waiting on it to come in. I have two thermometers and both ends but they are not 100% accurate. And I read that it's good to 'quarantine' for a week. And so far I've only handled her once (after I put her in the enclosure) and it was just to transfer her to a box so I could move her terrarium where I wanted it.

Well seeing that it's only been a couple days and hasn't got 3 consecutive feedings with you , I would say its a little to early to tell. Glad to know she isnt nippin at you so far with your handling. Mine is getting use to my hands , you just got to have patience with them, especially the smaller/younger ones.

Yeah, I'm curious to see her personality. Either way she's got a forever home with me! But she she seems trusting of me so far, I'm pregnant and I heard they can sense that

In a new enclosure, she is probably going to be stressed for at least the first week. If she eats consistently for you, then you know she's adjusted well! Make sure you monitor the humidity in a set up like that, especially when she goes into shed. If you have a problem with humidity, belly heat might be a better choice--heat lamps really suck up humidity.

You really need the UTH with thermostat for her, that's where mine lie when digesting, otherwise they're on the cool side.
A 50-gallon tank is huge for a small BP like that, I would clutter it up as much as possible with fake plants or crumpled up newspaper and some additional hides.
What is the humidity in the tank?
Please tell me that tape in the picture is on the outside of the tank and not the inside.

Alright, I'll wait until it's feeding time and see how she does. I'm planning feeding her in a separate rubber made tub, is that a good choice? I heard feeding them in their homes makes them think your hand is food sometimes. I am wanting to invest in a uth but I want to get one that is nice and will last, so I'm shopping. My pet store owner/longtime friend assured me her over heard heater will be 100% fine, because this is almost identical to her other set up (just larger) and she's shed and ate perfect for him.

Yes the tape is on the outside and 100% not even close to coming into contact with her. It's to hold trash bags around the outside to darken it. I've also ordered a tank divider custom to my tank so I can adjust it according to her needs. All my stuff was supposed to be in before I got the snake, but sometimes shipping is slow/: she is actually starting to shed this is her scratching her face against the stick. Does this look like a sign of shedding to you?
And once I see a few more signs I'm going to have her tank at 70% humidity but right now it's around 60% she loves to be out of her hides, I have three in there right now, and she only goes in them a few times a day/ night. I don't think she's a shy one, especially from what her previous owner said. She's always been one for displaying herself.

Re: Do I have a stressed bp??
The heat from the lamp might be too much for her. Are you using a digital or analog thermometer. If its analog then go ahead and toss it in the trash. I went and got a $12 accurite from Walmart and it's way more accurate. I have them in all 5 of my tubs and one for my home. It does imdoor outdoor, and humidity. I have it set to where the probe is right on the uth, and the unit is on the cool side. Also you could use cardboard cut to size and use the other side for storing extra substrate, and other things you might need. My snakes are now in a closet where no one but me goes. I'm very cautious of who sees my snakes. My father in law wants to make snake skin boots. I don't even post pics of my friends. These 5 are too sweet and calm to let people stress them. You said you have a thermostat on its way. You can get a nice uth for a 55gal. You can also get one of the seed mats like what you start seeds on before taking them outside to plant. As long as you have a thermostat on it then you should be good. I use regular uth and I have 1 thermo something. I can't remember the exact name off the top of my head. I use that one under 2 of my rubber made bins. Also you can feed her in her enclosure no problems. I've done both. I've never been bitten because of it either. There is a higher possibility of regurgitation with moving her after she eats from the bin to her enclosure then if you feed in the enclosure. I've been bitten because the snake was extremely stressed and I wasn't paying attention. As long as you don't scare the daylights out of the poor thing you're good. Also you might (not saying you will) get a baby nip from her. Babies can be nippy. I was extremely lucky that my favorite girl never bit me. I've owned her for 4 yrs and even after I got her back from people that didn't take proper care of her she didn't bite. They didn't feed her for almost a year and she didn't bite when I fed her. She did swallow the rat before she completely constricted it and looked for more, but she didn't bite me. Good luck with your new baby.
