its really awesome, but i dont have the slightest idea what im looking at, ive never seen anything quite like it. i think some atomic combos might look like that, but then, its still not a close match.

i assume its an africa import hatchling, genetic background unknown, am i correct? or is there any way to learn anything about the genetics/optics of the parents?

of course you need to breed him, ideally to two or 3 virgin females, and depending on the results, keep in mind that it may be recessive. these could be morph females, picked to prove out if the gene is maybe in a gene complex, or normals. lesser, fire, and yellowbelly would be the usual candidates.

BTW, welcome to the forum, i see this is your first post

oh, and, can you get a picture of the belly?

Thanks, yea my first post. yes he was imported an i hand picked him from about 100 babies, i myself have never seen this before. i talked to a few big breeders and they really have no idea, a few were sayin it looks like a bamboo, i have no idea about that gene...never even heard of it until today! belly is clear... ill try to get a few more pics up of him.

few breeder friends told me to put him with a cinny female this year or a spider to be sure an prove it out.

bamboo is a hot and new morph, proven to be in the BEL gene complex, and its by far the strongest gene in the BEL complex. its like lesser on steroids. and very, very expensive. but i think bamboo looks even more extreme.

i dont see what sense it would make to pair it with cinnamon or spider. it doesnt look like its in the same gene complex as cinnamon / black pastel / het red axanthic. and spider is not in a gene complex. so these suggestions seem completely random.

oh, thats true, that makes sense, bamboo cinnamon, bamboo black pastel, and bamboo GHI do indeed look awesome.

but i would try for gene complexes since nothing is proven out so far. and that means lesser/butter or mojave to check the BEL complex, fire to check the black eye leucistic complex, and YB to check the ivory/superstripe complex. but then, all genes in the ivory gene complex do show markers on the belly, so you could maybe rule that out by inspecting the belly.

if it appears to be recessive, next step would be to try to get another visual. otherwise, next step, with a similar pairing, would be to try for a super form.

yea, gonna put it to a cinny girl to see if it does make bamboo cinnys since we all know what they look like, also putting it to a bumblebee female and some normals to see if it will reproduce its self.
